FT Adviser – Best UK Cities for Financial Advisers

Where can financial advisers truly thrive, not just professionally, but personally?

In an exclusive analysis for FT Adviser, Orton Financial has revealed the top UK cities that provide the best balance of salary, opportunity and affordability for financial advisers. Based on data from Indeed and the Office for National Statistics, the study ranked cities across six key metrics, including job availability and disposable income after rent.

Surprisingly, London came second to last, with Walsall and Dudley in the West Midlands topping the index with scores of 89 and 84 out of 100, respectively. Other high performers included Bradford, Warrington and Slough.

Luther Yeates, Founder of Orton Financial, explained: “While cities like London remain attractive for advisers wanting to climb the ladder, at the end of the day, money and prestige aren’t everything.

“With many still feeling the effects of the cost of living crisis, more people want to actually enjoy the money they earn rather than watch it vanish on housing and bills.

“Understandably, for some, putting in all that work just isn’t worth it if there’s little left over to live well.”
